Get Your CDL Permit

Classroom instruction and CLP written-exam prep so you pass your Commercial Learner's Permit test and unlock hands-on training.

Weeks 2–3

Yard & Behind-the-Wheel Training

Pre-trip inspection, backing, parking, and real road time at our Zion training yard — building the skills examiners look for.

Weeks 3–4

Pass Your CDL-A Road Test

Final skills test and road test — the same structure as your state CDL-A exam.

Week 4

Guaranteed Interview + Drive a Freightliner Cascadia

Graduate, and Run Direct guarantees you an interview — start driving your own Freightliner Cascadia with our 60+ truck fleet.

Where the 160 Hours Go

Every hour is building toward one thing: you, behind the wheel, on your own route.

Every student moves through the same core structure. Exact daily schedules can flex around your availability, but the training components stay consistent.

Behind-the-wheel driving instruction, one-on-one with an instructor.

Skills & range training at our Zion yard — backing, parking, and pre-trip inspection drills.

Observation time riding along and learning from real driving scenarios.

Classroom instruction, pre-trip inspection prep, and exam-readiness review.

The Process

CLP → Range → Road → Exam

  • Step 1 — CLP Written Exam. You'll study and pass the Commercial Learner's Permit written test before hands-on training begins.
  • Step 2 — Range & Skills Training. Practice backing, parking, and pre-trip inspection at our Zion training yard until it's second nature.
  • Step 3 — Behind-the-Wheel Road Training. Get real seat time driving with an instructor in a Class A tractor.
  • Step 4 — Final Exam. Pre-trip inspection, parking/backing skills, and the road test — the same structure as your state CDL exam.

A Typical Training Day

What to Expect Day to Day

Days generally open with a classroom or safety briefing, move into hands-on range or road time, and close with a debrief on what to work on next. Because scheduling is flexible, exact day-to-day timing is built around your availability — ask your enrollment coordinator for the current week's schedule.

English support built into every session

Basic English is enough to enroll. Instructors reinforce the exact vocabulary and phrases used on the CDL exam so non-native speakers walk in prepared and confident.
